Project Description:

The USAID/Nicaragua Technical Vocational Education and Training Strengthening for At-Risk Youth Program (TVET SAY) is a four-year activity that targets TVET institutions serving at-risk youth populations and prepare them for government certified technical degrees, formal employment, and self-employment in support of community product and service needs. To equip youth target populations with the needed workforce readiness skills, TVET SAY will work with a range of actors including private TVET centers, private sector employers, private sector representative groups, youth or workforce groups, INATEC and other government agencies.

Position Summary:

The Program Assistant will provide administrative and technical support to the Workforce Development/TVET Specialist and all other technical specialists. The incumbent assists the office in the full range of logistical support including scheduling of meetings, organizing events, information technology and audio/visual equipment set up, and paper and electronic filing and record keeping. Duties also include drafting, editing, formatting, and clearance of memoranda. The position also provides limited project administration support for the implementation of development assistance activities, as needed to support participant training activities and liaise with local partners.

Reporting & Supervision:

The Program Assistant will report to the Workforce Development / TVET Specialist.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the management of technical, financial, and administrative activities under the contract;
  • Report clearly and comprehensively on a complex portfolio of activities, including report writing and briefings;
  • Ensure the quality of technical interventions under the contract;
  • Facilitate exchange and cross-fertilization among technical staff; and
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree or higher in international relations, political science, social work or equivalent;
  • At least five years’ experience supporting donor-funded programs of similar size and scope;
  • Demonstrable experience with USAID policy, procedures, and reporting requirements;
  • Excellent oral and written English and communication skills. Fluency in Spanish required; and
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills.
