Habitat for Humanity International is seeking an experienced and professional Disaster Risk Reduction and Response (DR3) Programs Manager, for Latin America. The DR3 Programs Manager will lead the creation of capacities, as well as the design and the implementation of HFH DR3 programs in Mexico, Central and South America, aiming to expand our scale and impact in the LAC region. This position is based in Central America, preferably, Dry Corridor’s surroundings.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead the development and implementation of HFHI LAC Disaster Risk Reduction and Response strategy in the Mexico, Central and South America region, working with the HFH National Organizations and other implementing partners with particular emphasis on those geographical areas subject to seasonal natural hazards and protracted climate-related conditions.
* Implement, manage, and support disaster response projects in field locations, including travel to current/proposed project areas to perform rapid assessments, project formulation and inception, partner coordination, training, capacity-building and other related activities in coordination with the HQ DR3 Department.
* Lead (plan, coordinate, implement) community preparedness projects and facilitate community-based trainings and Habitat or partner’s staff trainings to support other project implementation, monitoring, and reporting activities.
* Apply existing disaster response processes and standard operating procedures (SOPs) in coordination with the HQ DR3 Department. Assess existing business procedures of HFH National Organizations relating to disaster response and make recommendations for strengthening organizational readiness to respond and the promotion of mitigation and disaster preparedness activities, techniques, and awareness.
Requirements:
* Bachelor´s degree.
* Professional background: Civil Engineer or Architect, with relevant experience in disaster mitigation, preparedness, and response, and with experience in designing and implementing construction programs.
* Experience of 8 years minimum in facilitating processes, trainings and/or managing prevention, mitigation, preparedness and disaster response programs and alliances in a multinational environment/ Experience in the Shelter and Settlement Sector.
* Fully bilingual English – Spanish.
* Excellent spoken and written communications.
* Sense of urgency and oriented to results.
* Experience with disaster response deployments in LAC region.
* Systemic thinking and analytical problem solving.
* Alliances and partnerships promotion and negotiation skills.
